Meet the Rhizophora mucronata (loop-root mangrove or Pranthan Kandal), which produces bioactive compounds effective in treating cancer

I Noticed this Big & Thick Mangrove during my visit in Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, Kerala. I was in a small tourist boat, the boat operator Mr Rajeev ettan introduced this plant, He said this name is ‘Pranthan Kandal ( Crazy Mangrove ). Also he told that this mangrove is planted here in kadalundi lake before 20 years ago by Forest officers. Also he added that this mangrove can defend tsunami & Storms.
